African Health Spending Lags Despite Rapid Economic Growth

Insufficient financing and poor organization continue to be a major problem for health care systems in Africa despite rapidly growing economies in many countries. Data from the WHO shows that over the past decade more than half of sub-Saharan countries cut spending and investment in health care systems or barely increased it at all, while foreign assistance has plateaued.
